Science first began with the ancient Greek philosophers around the fifth century
BCE and was rediscovered in the Italian Renaissance. Can we accept this still

Greek and worked on Greek scientific works, i.e. the Byzantines? Why is the

philosophy? This seminar is devoted to the discussion of the historical development
of science in the Byzantine world from Late Antiquity to the early Renaissance and
the scientific exchanges between the Byzantines, Jewish and Islamic communities.
