Section outline

  • In this seminar we will read, present, and discuss papers from the current professional literature on software engineering. This will be done by a combination of two approaches:
    • Common assignments of classical papers. Everyone is expected to read these and prepare a short report (less than one page). We then discuss what these papers say and why they are so important in class.
    • Individual assignments of recent papers from top venues. Each participant will read one such paper and present it in detail to the whole class.
Note that reading a scientific paper for the first time (and understanting it, and preparing a presentation) may take quite some time, so please start working on it several weeks in advance. If your paper is more than 13 pages long, you can decide to focus on part of it (but please consult with me). You should show me your intended presentation 4 days in advance to leave time for any necessary changes, and may of course also consult earlier than that. In addition don't forget the 4 papers that everyone should read and the short reports on them, and take them into account too when you plan your time.
